Auto driver seriously injured in accident at Marnamikatta

Mangalore, Mar 21: The driver of an auto rickshaw was injured when his vehicle rammed into a bus at Marnamikatta here on Friday March 21.

The identity of the driver is not yet known, however he is said to be from Kumpala.

The bus was plying from State Bank to Mangaladevi and auto was moving in the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses said that he was driving the auto rickshaw at a high speed and rammed into the bus sideways at Marnamikatta.

The impact was such that the auto was completely smashed. Its windshield is said to have got thrown a few metres away.

The driver's leg was stuck in the mangled remains of the auto and it took about half an hour to rescue him. He sustained head injuries too and his condition is said to be serious. He was admitted to a hospital.

Police have registered a case.
