Mangalore, Mar 22: A woman lost her life and several others suffered injuries of various degrees, after the auto rickshaw in which they were trevelling tumbled into a 200 feet deep gorge near the bus stand at Kajila near Gurpur Kaikamba within Bajpe police station limits on Friday March 21.
The auto rickshaw was carrying a number of labourers when the accident occurred. The deceased has been identified as Sridevi from Badakabail near here. The labourers were moving to Kajila from Addoor, when tragedy struck. While most of the passengers escaped with minor injuries, Sridevi was very badly injured. Although she was taken to a hospital immediately, she could not be saved.
It is said that the auto rickshaw in question had been recently bought, and it is owned by a man from Addoor village. Policemen from Bajpe station visited the spot and undertook investigation.
