Mangalore: Married lady's death at Gujjarkere - Woman arrested

Mangalore, Mar 23: A day after Soumya, a resident of Gujjarkere died in a fire at her house in Gujjarkere, the police on Sunday March 23 arrested a woman in connection with the case.

Soumya (25), wife of Kiran, was charred to death at her residence in Gujjarkere on Saturday March 22. It was suspected to be a case of suicide.

On Sunday, the police took Shraddha, a resident of Bolar into custody. Incidentally, she was present at the spot of crime on Saturday when the police came to investigate.

Police sources said that Shraddha revealed that she had married Shashikant five years ago and had later divorced him. Shashikant is presently staying in Mumbai.

Shraddha will be produced before the magistrate at night.

Sources said that Shraddha was close to Kiran and had allegedly had a hand in Soumya's death.

    She has to be punished. Whatever crime she has done is not a small one.was she standing till sowmyas last breath.how could she do that.Heartless Lady. if the law release her without any punishment, then we can find many more murderers like this who will vanish the witness and kill people. Shradhas son m8 be taken care by her family, but what about sowmyas son?? please give justice to sowmya.i hope her soul rest in peace.

    Karma hits you back when you least expect it.... shraddha shouldnt be spared.... if proven guilty ....nor should Kiran.... i dont understand how people think they can get away with murder ....and how can they be so cold blooded to do such a horrific thing...i knew her personally... and im ashamed ..... she is my neighbour at my native place.... the least she could do is think about her son before doing something to a mother who has a lil boy too.... they say she been married for 5 years and then divorced where in i think she been married for atleast 10 years.... theres alot of lies thats been said by her.... i hope justice is served and the guilty are punished for what they have done...... Mayb Saumya's soul RIP.....

Poor woman's blood will cry and now both her husband and this cunning woman (kabab me haddi) who has helped him in the crime should be severely punished. They think they can get away with doing anything in this world, but remember God's eyes are always open, so before committing any such horrible crime, think twice. Sorry for the little boy.     Not missing, very much here. However, what I wonder is as soon as one/two case/s involving women harming women you guys shoot up branding all women as criminals ?

    At the same time, we women should not generalize, be sympathetic, give him a chance to plea against the court verdict, etc etc. ? Men fight between themselves, men kidnap, abduct/rape women - force into prostitution, should this be accepted without protests ? Eh ??

    Ajay..don't you think man is not involved in the murder of his wife? This lady lost her life due to extramarital affair. So, both these people should be punished. You cannot simply blame the women here. Police need to investigate the role played by the deceased woman's husband as well.

    @ Ethan,I am not in missing list,still existing.The fact that we/I only not saying to each and everything done in "Mans World"yes and amen injustice to women.Here woman is and with Party of murder to a innocent woman with a small child along with child's father, I am sure.and it is not tolerable.How would you react when in your friends or Family circle such things happen?Achild is now motherless in a affair.why still they try to hide and seek Play?The way victims husband tell media in another Forum and act is quite different.God mercy on him and the woman should be punished.she too has children and now see how they will be also without mother to grow suppose she goes to jail.

    Strict action should be taken against shraddha and if proved,public should throw stones on her until she dies.
