I-League: Churchill Brothers face Dempo SC


Panaji, March 27 (IANS): Bolstered by their stunning win over Pune FC in the last game, Churchill Brothers are confident they can carry the momentum forward in their next I-League clash against Dempo Sports Club at Nehru Stadium here Friday.

Churchill Brothers scored two goals in the last four minutes of added time to stun title-challengers Pune FC and are now confident they can continue with their winning momentum.

“In the last game, the players measured up to the challenge. They proved they are determined for success. They proved that they want to get the team out of the situation we find ourselves in at the moment,” said club technical director Subhash Bhowmick.

The win helped Churchill Brothers move out of the relegation zone with 18 points from 18 matches, leaving Mohammedan Sporting (17 points from 19 matches) in the drop zone. Now, Churchill want to break free from the strugglers.

“It’s another massive game for us. The fight for survival is tough but I know that the players will come good again,” he said.
