Mangalore: Thieves decamp with valuables worth Rs 2.5 lac at Suratkal

Mangalore, Mar 30: A family living in a house, ‘Vedhashalini’ in Supriya Layout near Ganesh Bidi office at Kana near Suratkal lost gold ornaments and cash totally valued at Rs 2.55 lac on the intervening night between Thursday March 27 and Friday. The house in question belongs to Muruganandan.

It is thought that the theft was committed between 11 pm on Thursday and 9 am on Friday. The thieves had entered the house by forcing the rear door of the house open by using some object. The family members were sleeping in another room when the theft occurred. After waking up in the morning, they found that the empty ornaments box was lying on the ground, and cash amounting to Rs 55,000 had gone missing.

City deputy commissioner of police, Vishnuvardhan, Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Ravi Kumar, Suratkal police sub-inspector, M A Nataraj, and other personnel visited the spot and undertook investigation. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were summoned from Mangalore for collecting evidences. A case was registered in Suratkal police station.
