Mangalore, Jun 11: Sheer negligence on the part of the Mangalore City Corporation officials cost Rathan his life.

Rathan Joseph Pinto (33) who was riding his bike on Saturday night died in a road mishap. Unlike the usual road accidents, Rathan was not hit by any vehicle. His bike slipped into a pothole on the Mallikatte road. The incident took place at 11.45 pm.

Unaware of the dangerous ditch on the road, Rathan lost his balance and his bike fell into the pothole. Rathan was thrown off fthe vehicle which caused him severe injuries.

Son of Fabian and late Judith Pinto of Bijai, Rathan was rushed to the hospital but he died instantly.

Those who witnessed the accident have condemned the city corporation officials for neglecting the roads.
