Mangalore, Jun 11: In view of the proposal to handover the century-old Jeppu play ground to MESCOM by the district administration had Mangalore City Corporation a protest has been organized on Jun 12.

Peoples’ Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) will lead the protest against the move to hand over the public playground to MESCOM.

According to PUCL district president P B D’Sa, the protest will be held near Morgan’s Gate at 10 am and will be joined by senior citizens, social workers, religious leaders, students and school children.

The few public playgrounds which the city has are being used for other purposes and senior citizens, children and youth are deprived the privilege of playing or using the ground for recreation activities. The PUCL which already has identified such playgrounds has been working towards saving them.
