Mangalore: Jun 11: A cultural bonanza of music, dance, mimicry, acrobatics and more, Chandanotsava regaled a discerning audience in  Dr T M A International Convention Centre here on Sunday, Jun 11.

The entertainment programme was organized by Doordarshan Kendra (Bangalore) in association with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Sandesha Foundation and aimed at spreading awareness on the Doordarshan.

Sri Vidya Prasanna Teertha Swamiji of Sri Kukke Subramanya Temple inaugurated the gala event which is the third Chandanotasava in the state.

Mangalore Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza was the chief guest while Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr Veerendra Heggade presided over the programme.

Director of Doordarshan Mahesh Joshi, assistant director A S Chandra Mouli, Mahe Vice Chancellor Dr H S Ballal, Sandesha Foundation director, Fr Francis Lewis and Corporation Bank chairman Sambamurthy were present at the programme.

A feast to art-lovers, the show organized in memory of Kannada matinee idol, the late Rajkumar was telecast live on Chandana and Karnataka Regional Service (DD-1).

Among the programmes were performances by Sandesha Lalitakala Mahavidyalaya staff and artistes,mimicry artiste Pattabhiram Sullia, yodelling King Melwyn Peris, acrobatics by Chaitra, Juhi Kamlesh of Excellent Dance Academy and dances depicting the rich tradition of the coastal region.
