Mangalore, Jun 12: Union minister Oscar Fernandes inaugurated a two-day district leadership training camp organised under the auspices of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) at Fiza Gardens premises at Pandeshwar here on Sunday June 11.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the youth should know the history of the country in order to lead and build it in the future. He praised the city and said that it was not only an important part of Karnataka but also of India. The city has immense potential for economic growth and may soon become a hub for foreign investments, he said.
Nearly 200 students from different taluks are taking part in the camp. The purpose of the camp is to bring about qualitative changes in the present leadership to meet the challenges of the future.
Among those present were MLC Blasius D'Souza, Saleem Ahmed, former minister Ramanath Rai and former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake.
