Shuttler Kashyap enters India Open quarters


New Delhi, April 3 (IANS): India’s top shuttler Parupalli Kashyap entered the men’s singles quarter-finals of the $250,000 India Open Super Series at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here Thursday.

The World No.23 beat compatriot R.M.V. Gurusaidutt 21-15, 16-21, 21-11 in 59 minutes in a Round 2 encounter. Kashyap equalled his head-to-head against Guru to two-all.

He will next face the winner of the match between top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and Sourabh Varma of India.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Aprilla Yuswandari took only 29 minutes to beat former women's singles national champion Trupti Murgunde 21-13, 21-12 in the second round.
