Udupi, Apr 4: “The contest is between truth and falsehood,” said Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde while addressing the gathering in Mugthihalli on Thursday April 3, accompanied by local party leaders.

He further said referring to the wrong statement given by the BJP regarding land acquisition and areca ban issue, “The time has come to teach a lesson to the BJP.”

Hegde urged the BJP to speak on what they have achieved during their regime like he has citing water project, NH development programme, rural area development, and provision of basic facilities. He said that he had worked for the poor honestly and thus come out unscathed despite allegations to the contrary.

Referring to the statement made by Ananth Kumar on land acquisition he replied that he wanted to remind people that JP had given RTC for forest land through village forest committee after discussions held with Siddaramaiah in two meetings.

Hegde angrily said that the loan waiver plans, education, and health schemes including ‘Ksheera Bhagya’, are not only a big achievement but also a challenge to the BJP. He justified that he had completed and implemented many programmes successfully in his regime of 1 year and 11 months.

D L Vijaykumar, district president, S T Chandregouda, village panchayat president, K S Shanthe Gowda, B M Sandesh, Shidar Ural, local leaders Ravi, Padmanand, Gurumurti, and Hemanth Shetty were present at the meeting.
