Kasargod: Property dispute - Man hacks nephew to death

Kasargod, Apr 4: In an incident which occurred at Bandadka in the district on the evening of Wednesday April 2, a youth was allegedly killed by his maternal uncle because of a longstanding property dispute.

Prabhakaran alias Pradeep (28), son of Nanu and Saraswati, used to live at Maripadpu Kunnel in Bandadka. Saraswati’s brother, Raveendran, stays in the next house. The police have booked Raveendran for murdering his nephew.

Police said arguments over property dispute resulted in this murder.

Raveendran and Prabhakaran, both said to be in an inebriated state on Wednesday evening, began fighting over property issue. Enraged, Prabhakaran picked an axe and hit at Prabhakaran's neck, killing the latter instantly, it is learnt. Though the neighbours rushed Prabhakaran to hospital, he could not be saved.

The police have seized the axe used for murder.

Prabhakaran was employed as a painter.

The body or Prabhakaran was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for post mortem.
