Mangalore: Derrick Fullinfaw urges Christians to support BJP

Mangalore, Apr 5: "If you want good governance, elect Modi; if you want bag governance, elect Congress; if you want no governance, then elect Arvind Kejriwal," said Derrick M B Fullinfaw, the nominated Anglo-Indian member of the legislative assembly and former MLA, in a press meet at BJP election office here on Saturday April 5.

He said that he came to Mangalore to campaign for BJP and to seek the support of Christian communities.

"This election is about India and this time’s election is a very interesting one. There are currently two waves in India - a pro-BJP wave and anti-Congress wave. We are appeal to the Christian community to bring down the Congress party and urge you to support us," he said.

"My request to the minority community is to support us now and in the future as well, so that we can give good governance to the people of India," he added.

"Due to various reasons the Congress party used the minority funds for their own benefits while the minority community never got a thing from the fund. Rs 50 crore was allotted for the Christian welfare and in the 60 years of rule, the Congress party has not done anything. We had helped the Christians when there was no one for them, we had given Rs 2 crore to Mysore St Philomena Church for its development," he added.

Regarding Haj Bhavan in Bangalore, he said that when B S Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, he had provided a huge amount of funds for its construction and funds were also provided by former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

Expressing confidence of winning the Lok Sabha elections, Derrick said that on May 17 Modi government will be formed. "People of India want a better government. Youth today are disillusioned."

Praising Narendra Modi, he said, "Modi has become an iconic symbol of good governance and development. Day by day he is gaining popularity. Wherever he goes, people follow him, people eagerly wait to talk to him. Under Modi's leadership, India will get better governance. Gujarat people are happy with the development done in their state and even the Muslims are supporting Modi in Gujarat.”

Joachim D’Costa, Gerald D’Souza, Dr Anil, Wilfred Saldanha, Anup Fernandes, Priya Fernandes, Yogesh Bhat and others were present.

    kodialda muthu, mangalore: who told you thet Mahnedra kumar was not jailed. He was the person behind church attack and even others who were found culprit in the attack were sent to jail. But who made them to come out on bail and join their party? Mahendra kumar was sent to jail by BJP and HDK and JDS were the guaranter for him to come on bail.

    kodialda muthu, mangalore: I don't who you are. either Christian or Muslim. Whoever you are I don't mind. My question for you is according to you the BJP is responsible for church attack and Pub Attack. Do you really know in which party the attacker residing? Its JDS and Congress. If the Attack is condemned by Congress and JDS then why they entertained those guys in the respective parties? Now definitely I know If someone (congress men)reads the comment and reply me saying that BJP ditched those guys after the attacks. they only used them. My question is If BJP has used them don't they have their own brain (pub attacker and church attacker)to say no to attack. After the attack those guys were arrested and put behind the bars. Especially all the pub attackers were jailed and didn't even able to come out on bail till the BJP government was there. Soon after the formation of Congress govt. in Karnataka first work congress helped the attacker by not giving enough proof against the attacker and court had bailed them. now all are roaming outside and supporting those parties who helped them to come out. If congress or JDS is so much secular then why the hell they should entertain such goons in their respective parties? If u r not supporting BJOP doesn't mean that all Christians do the same.

    Mr Neeraj, I know very well who the attackers are and at present which party they are. The point here is church attacks happened during the BJP rule, why was action was not initiated then? Instead innocent were jailed and beaten. Do you justify an attack on the church being a catholic?

    My question to Derrick, Joachim D’Costa, Gerald D’Souza, Dr Anil, Wilfred Saldanha, Anup Fernandes, and Priya Fernandes. Do you have some shame to talk to Christians?Who planned Church attacks????. First answer, then talk Budi Rail. Are you ready to take responsibility for future attacks?? You have no moral right to talk to the Christian minority community or any community in mangalore, as you have done enough in 5 years (homestay, pub attacks, church attacks, Ullal attacks, and recently Bantawal attacks). Give you one more chance and we innocent have to face the wrath of Muslim and Christians!. Nobody in Christians is ready to forgive BJP for church attacks.

    peter, mlr: Why you want to display only Gujarat riots? Even more riots were there when Congress was ruling. I hope you must be remembering those and not please go back and check the history of riots? and why don't we talk about the 1984 Sikh Riots? Was the Sikh riots also arranged by BJP? We Christians only speak about the after effect of 2002 riots. But initially why the those things were broke down? look at the reasons. Hindus who were travelling from Ayodhya were burnt down in a train by locking the compartment from outside. Was this correct then? If we say that the after effect is wrong then how the reason beyond this will be correct? So whatever minority community does is correct and if majority community gives back then its wrong according to us. Weird mentality of us.

    Congress is simply creating fear in the minds of a minority class. Now even minority class realised that congress is worse than BJP in every sense. All minorities should vote for BJP and give them a chance instead of giving the power to looters of the nation.

    Mr.Derrick were u in this world when church attack took place? have you heard of Gujart '02? if you were among those got beaten up, jailed, false cases filed, if one of your own was raped, burnt, fetus pulled out will you have tongue to say what you are saying now? Governance without taking and owning responsibility is just dadagiri. what India needs first is communal harmony, it is not hindu(religion) rastra but Hindustan where every Indian feels safe. let us choose a person and vote for the party that stands by secular values.

    Big "NO" to you Derrick. First time hearing you. Where were you so far? When churches were attacked in Mangalore were you sleeping? When innocents were beaten by police, where were you? When unarmed people and women were beaten by BJP goons, were you in deep sleep? You have appeared like a mushroom which appears after lightning and thunder and we don't want to support you. Mangalorean Christians know whom to vote and whom to reject. You don't have to tell us.
