Bantwal, Apr 6: Mobile phones, for all the importance they hold in our lives today, have also known to be at the root of trouble on numerous occasions. Here is one case that serves as an example of the kind of problems a missed call can create if one is not careful.
A missed call received by an unmarried girl from a young man at Amtoor here turned into friendship and the youth even started coming to her house. It is said that he promised to marry her and allegedly tried to sexually abuse her.
When she tried to resist his advances, the youth allegedly snatched her gold earrings and fled.
The youth reportedly told his name as Subhash and the girl had not asked his address. He had obtained her address over the phone and first arrived at her house a few days ago.
It is said that he pledged her gold jewellery in Kalladka cooperative bank before disappearing.
The girl filed a complained against him in Bantwal town police station and a search for him is on.
