New Delhi, Jun 14: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd will cut monthly rentals under its Oneindia fixed line plan to Rs 225 from Rs 299, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran said on Tuesday.

The company will also offer 25 free calls per month with the revised rates, he added.

BSNL CFO S D Saxena said, ''The new rates will be effective in another 15-20 days. "On the number of people using the Oneindia plan, Saxena told UNI that the last two to three months have seen the number go up to 3-4 lac, and we are looking at increasing that figure substantially."

Asked about any specific reason for the reduction of prices, Saxena said, "It is a momentous occasion that the number of telephone users in the world has crossed the 2,00,000 crore mark, and to celebrate that achievement, we have made this announcement."

Saxena, while hinting at more such low-cost schemes in the future, said that "at present, we are not coming out with anything new, but are open to looking at options."
