Udupi, Apr 9:   ICYM Udupi Deanary under the collaboration of ICYM Udyavar unit organized a visit to 'Snehalaya' run by the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Sisters) at  Vincent Pallotti Convent located at Sampigenagara,Udyavar.

ICYM  members  from  the  parishes  of  Udupi,  Udyavar,  Kalmady,  Moodubelle,  Perampally,  Katapadi and Kuntalnagar were present at the convent by 2:45 pm. The program was inaugurated at 3 pm by Fr Roque D’Souza, Parish Priest and the director of ICYM Udyavar Unit.

Maxim D’Sa animator of ICYM Udupi Denary, Anitha Saldanha , animator of I.C.Y.M Udyavar  unit,  Sr  Maria  and  Sr  Jacintha,Senior  sister’s  of  the  Convent, Roshan  Sequeira, president  of ICYM Udupi Deneary  and Sharon Lobo  president  of I.C.Y.M Udyavar  unit were present on the occasion.

The programme began with the prayer song sung by the members of Udyavar unit and Teena Machado welcomed the gathering. Fr Roque D’Souza being the chief guest of the day spoke about the  importance  of  arranging  visits  to  'Snehalaya'  and  also  motivated  the  youth  to render  their
services like this to the needy in their units.

Sr Maria , senior sister, gave a bird’s eye view to the gathering about the running of their convent and also about the services rendered by them  towards the  downtrodden  children.  Sister  mentioned  that  at  present  they  looked  after 41students  at  'Snehalaya' from various parts of the state  and supporting them in  all the ways for their development. After that all the children were given complementary gifts as a token of love and remembrance.

The formal programme  was  followed  by an  entertainment  programme  showcasing  dance  and  singing  by  the ICYM members . The  children from Snehalaya  also  exhibited their talents.

For around two hours there was  an interaction between the  children of Snehalaya  and the members of ICYM, wherein group wise games were conducted inorder to built a strong relation between all the members.

At 6 pm the  programmeconcluded with the vote of thanks by Roshan  Sequiera  president  of ICYM  Udupi  denary.  Members  from  each  unit  expressed  their  views  about  the  visit.  The program concluded with refreshments .The event was compered by Joythsna Rodrigues.
