Udupi, Apr 11: Journo-turned-social activist Nagalakshmi, in a press meet convened at Hotel Kediyoor here on Thursday April 10, released the list of corrupt candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections and criticized most of the senior politicians of Karnataka.
Leveling serious allegations at two former chief ministers of the state - S M Krishna and B S Yeddyurappa, she alleged that they allotted sites to journalists during their tenure. She claimed that she had moved the court after which most of the journalists lost these sites that were valued at Rs 3 crore.
"Sites were not allotted to deserving applicants but to certain journalists in exchange for projecting a better image in the media," she said.
Nagalakshmi also alleged that former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, during his tenure, had misused his power and purchased land for residential purpose under ‘B’ category and then used it for commercial purpose. She added that a case has been filed in the Apex court and Prashanth Bhushan is handling the case.
Launching a scathing attack on Shobha Karandlaje, BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur district, Nagalakshmi said Karandlaje showed dubious loan details in her affidavit filed before the returning officer while filing her nomination.
"She also mentioned the name of Adarsh Developers with regard to a loan while that particular company is itself a colossal fake. Karandlaje was a small time worker in the BJP, so how did she manage to accumulate exorbitant assets? While serving as MLA of Yashavantpur constituency she purchased a coffee estate of 166 acres," she alleged.
Nagalakshmi’s list includes H D Kumaraswamy, Veerappa Moily, Dharam Singh, D V Sadananda Gowda, Ananthkumar, Shobha Karandlaje, Sriramulu, Prahlad Joshi, D K Suresh, and Prashant Deshpande amongst others.
She urged voters to cast their votes based on personal credibility rather than party affiliations.
"People should vote for good candidates to change the fortunes of our country," exhorted Nagalakshmi.
She said that she was working hard to disclose the true faces of the corrupt politicians and has already won nine cases in this regard and four are pending in the court.
