Mangalore: Bejai shootout - Police custody for three accused

Mangalore, Apr 12: Relating to the shootout incident which occurred on March 10 at Bharathi Builders office at Bejai in the city, a court here remanded Datta alias Dattatreya Tukaram Wagre, main accused in the case, to police custody. Wagre, who belongs to Garewadi in Karad taluk, Satara district, Maharashtra, had been arrested by the police on Wednesday April 9.

Two others, Ganesh Lakshman Saket, and Mukhesh Shivaji Kamble, who were arrested relating to the case earlier, also have been entrusted to police custody to enable the policemen to extract more details from them. All the three accused belong to Maharasthra. Both Saket and Kamble had been arrested by the city police on March 24.

All the three reportedly worked at the behest of underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary. Datta reportedly worked to hire youngsters to pose threats to builders and rich persons and collect protection money from them.

Ganesh and Hitesh from Halengady, who had been arrested in the case earlier, have already been released on bail.
