Belthangady, Apr 20: A husband killed himself on the same day as his wife's death here at Sanjaya Nagara, Belthangady on Saturday, April 19.
The deceased man has been identified as Srinath Shetty (30), a resident of Sanjaya Nagara, near the local court.
Earlier this week, his wife Vinutha (26) was admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore after she suffered from a serious illness. On Friday April 18 she succumbed to death due the low blood pressure which caused a heart attack.
After the completion of last rites of Vinutha, her husband remained along the family members till around 11:30 pm. After his sons went to bed, he committed suicide by hanging himself.
The family members noticed his demise in the morning. The deceased couple is survived by two sons - a six year old and a two year old.
A case has been registered at the Belthangady police station.
