Chennai, Jun 20: Airtel announced that roaming costs would be slashed for its customers in Chennai and Tamil Nadu when travelling in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka.

The revised rate is Rs 2 per minute for a call as against the earlier rate of Rs 2.89 to Rs 3.99 per minute. The rate would be applicable for both postpaid and prepaid customers, according to a release.

P. Swaminathan, Chief Operating Officer, Mobility, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel Ltd, was quoted in the release as saying there is a strong community of interest within the four southern States, and this roaming benefit satisfies a long felt need of this community.
