Ajman, Apr 24: Thumbay Moideen will be conferred with a special award for outstanding contribution to education at the World Chancellors Congress in India.
One of the pioneers of medical education and healthcare in the region, Thumbay Moideen, founder president, Board of Governors, Gulf Medical University Ajman,is invited to deliver a talk at the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) XVll Triennial Conference 2014, being held at Yokohama, Japan from June 11 -14.
The Triennial offers an unparalleled opportunity to network with hundreds of University Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors from around the world and to take part and enrich the discussions in this unique program. He is the only head of a university invited from UAE.
The opening ceremony and the triennial program as a whole will feature the highest level dignitaries from Japan, as well as world-renowned figures from international organizations, and international university associations at the global, regional and local levels. Well-known scholars, such as Judith Eaton, President of CHEA (USA,) Molly Corbett Broad, President of ACE (USA,) Maria José Lemaitre (Chile,) immediate past president of INQAAHE, Hans-Georg van Liempd (Netherlands,) president of the EAIE, Eva Egron-Polak (France,) secretary general of the IAU, and many others have confirmed their participation.
Moideen will also be delivering a talk at the World Chancellors Congress 2014 in India, where he will receive a special award for outstanding contribution to education. The Congress brings several Global Personalities in Education and Academics under one roof.
The theme for the World Chancellors Congress 2014 is “Internationalization of Higher Education in a 21st Century Global Environment: Drivers, Imperatives & prerequisites”. The World Chancellors Congress will be a part of World Corporate Universities Congress.
"Such meetings are of great significance as we get to interact with the world leaders in education and deliberate on why, what and how to forge ahead in providing solutions to incipient challenges and opportunitiesto enhance the quality of medical education in the region," says Moideen.
"Our deliberations will try to influence the evolving culture of education and educational pedagogy, with the objective of deep systemic change. Moideen spoke at the recently concluded 4th Gulf Education Conference in London under the theme ‘Higher Education 2020’. "
He spoke about Internationalization: Opportunities and Achieving Excellence through Partnerships.
It was held in the presence of Ministers from a number of countries in the region and Higher Education leaders and senior practitioners from the UK and the Gulf region. He is also invited to speak at the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) Conference on “Innovative research programs: the keys to rapiddevelopment in Asia and the Pacific” at SIAS International University,XinZheng,Zhengzhou, China and the 34th IMASA Convention being organized by Islamic Medical Association Of South Africa, in Durban.
