Shimoga, Apr 24: Respecting the request of Sandalwood actor Shivarajkumar, rival siblings Kumar Bangarappa and Madhu Bangarappa came together here on Wednesday April 23 to take part in the final journey of their mother Shakuntala Bangarappa who passed away on Tuesday April 22.
Shakuntala’s mortal remains were taken to her native Soraba in Shimoga and kept for public viewing from 8 am. Kumar Bangarappa who was present to witness the final rites of his mother had to face opposition from his sisters and the followers of Madhu Bangarappa. Tension prevailed at the spot for a while. There was even a verbal fight between the siblings. The situation was brought under control after the intervention of Shivarajkumar, following which the siblings took part in the final rites.
Shakuntala’s mortal remains were taken from Soraba to Kubatur in an open vehicle, in which Madhu Bangarappa, Kumar Bangarappa, 3 sisters Geetha Shivaraj Kumar, Anitha and Sujatha accompanied by Shivarajkumar were seated.
The final rites were conducted at Bangara Dhama in Soraba, with younger son Madhu Bangarappa lighting the funeral pyre assisted by Kumar Bangarappa.
It may be recalled that even during former CM Bangarappa's last rites, Madhu had performed the rituals.
