Mangalore, Jun 21: N M Adyanthaya, the vice president of Indian National Trade Congress (INTUC) and a member of the governing body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) was elected as one of the vice-presidents of the 95 session of the International Labour Conference held under the aegis of ILO.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday June 20 after returning from the conference Adyanthaya said that it was indeed a rare honour not only to him but to the entire country.  “It feels great to be elected as vice-president of ILO international conference.  I was the first person to represent the workers’ class from India since 95 years,” he said.

A delegation of 34 members which included 8 representatives from labour class, 16 from government and 10 from management represented the country in the conference. The delegation was led by union minister of state for labour Chandrashekhar Sahu.  In all 4,400 representatives from 171 countries participated in the conference.
