Mangalore: Women, child injured in collision between mini bus and college bus

Mangalore, Apr 24: Several persons including five women and a child were injured in an accident between a college bus and a mini bus near Mangalajyoti, Vamanjoor here on Thursday April 24 evening.

The accident took place when the mini bus carrying a wedding party rammed head-on into a bus belonging to Srinivas Institute of Technology at a turning.

The mini bus, with mostly women and children, was plying towards Thokkottu while the college bus was moving towards Vamanjoor.

Eyewitnesses said that the mini bus was on the wrong side of the road.

As a result of the accident, five women and a child who were in the mini bus were seriously injured. They were shifted to AJ Hospital. Apart from them, several others sustained minor injuries, sources said.

The driver of the mini bus has been identified as Haneef of Ranipura. He too was injured.

An auto rickshaw also rammed into the mini bus from the rear end and was damaged, it is said. 

The impact of the accident was such that the front portions of both the vehicles were badly damaged and seats and window panes broken.

Mangalore rural police arrived at the spot.

Traffic was affected for sometime due to the accident.

    Noticed, both the drivers didn't want to get off the thar-road. Similarly, they do with small vehicles, by pushing them out of thar road. These drivers are ready to take other road user's life, but they are not ready to get off road.

    AS if they will slow down. People here don't follow basic traffic rules such as going on a single lane, they dont use indicator while changing lane, they dont ware seat belts etc and later blame Government.

    ruchir agarwal, mangalore: Agree with you. Still if all the pointed mentioned by you were taken care also such accidents will occur. Because Our Drivers (Not only public transports, even the private vehicle's) wont change their attitude of overtaking in turning's. Don't know when these drivers think about their Lives and others too. Even If we follow the traffic rule the other person will come bang us, which we cannot escape.

    How on earth did the auto get into this mess. .these days auto are doing service on all major highways and roads which is very unsafe and must be stopped. They are causing nuisance on the highways.

    not following traffic rules and no control over speed.buses overtake other vehicles even on narrow/bend roads.if you dont move aside or drive slow the buses have powerful horns to forcefully make you move off the road and they can move.just hoping driving will be pleasant as abroad in mangalore.this accident happened at a bend.that says it all.traffic officers kindly do something.

    Yet another accident !! Still our authorities will not take preventive measures .1] Speed breakers in all in all junctions of roads and speed governors in all public buses is a must.2] All drivers of public buses should be screened and have a minimum 5 years experience strictly.3] Roads too are to be blamed as the road may have been narrow at the turning
