Udupi, Jun 22: A greenhouse at the department biotechnology at Life Science Centre Complex of MAHE was inaugurated on Wednesday by vice-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education H S Ballal.
Briefing reporters he said the greenhouse with the state-of-the-art facility is yet another step MAHE has taken to promote research and development in the area of plant biotechnology. He added this will not only benefit the students at MAHE but will also add thrust to ‘laboratory-to-field’ research.
Prof Sathyamoorthy, head of the Life Science Centre, said the concept of ‘greenhouse’ is a building where plants are cultivated under controlled temperature and humidity. The greenhouse is built of glass and plastic and is located where it gets maximum sunlight.
