Doha: Dr Viveka Rai felicitated by K'taka-based assns

Doha, Apr 30: The Karnataka based associations viz Karnataka Sangha Qatar, Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association, Mangalore Cricket Club, Bunts Qatar, South Canara Muslim Welfare Association and Qatar Billawas collaborated and felicitated Dr Viveka Rai in recognition of his contributions to the field of Literature and Education.






















Dr Viveka Rai was the former Vice-Chancellor of Hampi and Karnataka State Open University. He served as Chair of Indology at the University of Wurzburg, Germany. He was a professor and chairman in the department of Kannada at Mangalore University. He was the founder president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. Dr Rai was in Qatar as the chief guest for the Tulu Koota Annual Day celebrations.

The former president of Tulu Koota and president of Bunts Qatar Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering and compeered the program.

Deepak Shetty, the president of the Karnataka Sangha Qatar gave a brief introduction about Dr Viveka Rai. Later, the president of KMCA Niyaz Ahmed, KSQ president Deepak Shetty, SKMWA president Abdul Majeed, Bunts Qatar president Ravi Shetty, Qatar Billawas president Divakar Poojary along with Tulu Koota president Seetharam Shetty felicitated Dr Rai.

Dr Rai in his speech, showered words of appreciation for the unity and understanding of all the Karnataka based associations irrespective of caste and religion. He also shared his vast knowledge on our culture and literature.

The vote of thanks was proposed by SKMWA president Abdul Majeed.

A popular artist from Mangalore Thonse Puskal Kumar, Tulu Koota former presidents Prakash Ajila and Ramachandra Shetty, KSQ former president Mannangi and the committee members of all the associations attended the function.

The programme ended with dinner.
