Udupi, May 2: The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti Union, (DSS Ambedkar Vada) Udupi organized a protest march against the alleged derogatory remarks made by yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

An effigy of the yoga guru was burnt during the protests on Friday May 2. The protest was staged at the clock tower here in the city.

M Devdas, the state leader condemned the statement and said, “It is not a shame for Dalit women but for all the Indian women. Parties like the Congress and other communities conducted protests just for namesake. In the present times, girls too are being treated as contemptible persons.”

He further said, “Baba must be arrested under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) act and action should be taken against such activities in future.”

Sundar Master said, “It is a matter of shame that few political parties are promoting such activities. They are cheating the government by not paying taxes.”

“We should not encourage blind beliefs that force us live in such critical conditions. Such beliefs should be eliminated from our society,” he added.

Members Baskar, Manjunath and others were present during the protests.
