Mangalore, May 3: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress SC/ST cell staged a protest against yoga guru Ramdev for his remarks against Dalit women by burning his effigy near the DC office here on Saturday May 3.
Addressing the protests, Padmanabh Narengan, president of Dakshina Kannada district Congress SC/ST cell said, “Baba Ramdev should be arrested immediately for his remarks against the Dalit women. He should take his words back. We know how to take law into our hands but we will not do that. The police should arrest him for his derogatory remarks against Dalits and Rahul Gandhi.”
Dr Raghu, a KPCC member said, “Baba Ramdev should be arrested immediately under the atrocity act and sent behind bars. He has projected Dalit women in a bad light. The words used by Ramdev are painful to the Dalit community. Few years back he was a common man but after establishing Patanjali, he is minting crores of rupees.”
Ivan D’ Souza who spoke on the occasion said, “Dalits have contributed a lot to this society and nation. Without developing the Dalits, development of the nation is not possible. He has no concern for Dalits; he is also dividing the society. Ramdev should take back his statement. The police should arrest him immediately and send him to jail.”
P V Mohan said, “Ramdev has used Modi words in his speech. Ramdev is a commercial Baba. He has never taught yoga to the Dalits. He betrayed the country and is insulting the Dalit community. Muslims and Dalits should join and prevent the arrival of Modi.
“Amit Shah, Praveen Togadia and Giridhar speak in favour of Modi. Kabeer, who was killed in the recent ANF shootout, should be given justice and the government should disperse the ANF,” he concluded.
Ibrahim Kodijal, corporator Appi and others were present during the protest.
