Kundapur, May 4: In a sad incident, the wife of a businessman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a pond here on Saturday May 3.
The deceased, identified as Prema (43), wife of Nagaraj K, owner of Gayatri Timbers depot, was reportedly depressed because of her prolonged illness and hence took the extreme step, it is learnt.
Sources said that Prema had been suffering from kidney ailment for the past few months, but as the family members were unaware of the problem, the ailment worsened in due course of time. She is said to have suffered immense pain on Friday May 2 during the day. That night her husband Nagaraj came home late, and after serving him dinner at around 2 am, she disappeared from her house, it is said.
Her body was found on Saturday morning in a pond about a kilometre from their house.
It is said that Prema left behind a note in which she stated that no one was responsible for her death. The death note stated that she was unable to bear the intense pain and that her ailment alone was the reason for her taking the extreme step. She asked her husband to look after their children well and to give Rs 5,000 to Tallur Mahalingeshwara Temple.
Prema and Nagaraj's two children are pursuing their medical studies in Bangalore.
A case has been registered in the Kundapur police station.
