Mangalore: 4-year-old Boy Avniel Pais dies in jeep-scooty accident

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 5: Four-year-old Avniel Pais, son of Sunith Pais and Prescilla, was killed after a jeep carrying vegetables hit the two-wheeler in which he was travelling near Ane in Gurpur on Sunday May 4. Avniel’s maternal uncle, Ronald, who was riding the scooty in question, suffered fracture of the right thigh and injuries to several other parts of his body in the accident.

Parents of the boy were travelling in another scooty at the time. All the four were returning to Bondel after attending the engagement ceremony of a cousin at Shirtady. The jeep, which was moving towards Yedapadav from Mangalore, hit the scooty, knocking down both its occupants. Avniel, who suffered grave injuries, breathed his last while being taken to a hospital. Ronad was admitted into a private hospital in the city.

It is learnt that Sujith and Prescilla had come to their native place on a two-week holiday for attending certain functions here.

Of late, there has been a marked increase in the number of accidents on the national highway between the city and Moodbidri. Many opine that excessive speed, narrow road, and recklessness are the major  contributory factors for this phenomenon.

A very tragic accident. May the soul of Avniel Pais Rest in Eternal Peace. My deepest sympathies to the parents, families and loved ones. It is disheartening to know a young angel boy who was just 4 years old had left this earth. He is in the hands of our Almighty God and he will give you comfort in the loss of your only son and child.

RIP young bro!! Very tragic and unfortunate incident!!

DK and around two wheelers should be strictly avoided, probably has the highest accident mortality rates in India due to pathetic road conditions, and rash and unpoliced driving behavior!!

Pray that the parents get the immense courage to surmount this loss and move on in life!!

The government acquires land from farmers for industrial development but acquiring the land from the rich and influential people to widen the roads is not within their reach.....All National Highways should be One Way. You can't call Mangalore-Moodbidri road a National highway!!!
