Bantwal, May 5: With the arrest of two persons relating to the recent attack on the toll plaza at Brahmakarakootlu on national highway on Sunday May 4, the number of arrests relating to this incident has gone up to three. Those arrested on Sunday have been identified as Abdul Salam (24) and Shariff alias Paksha Shariff (30), both from Shantiangady.

It is learnt that Abdul Salam is the brother of a municipal councillor here. Both the accused were presented in court, and were remanded in judicial custody. Relating to the case, Palla Abubakker has already been arrested. It is learnt that these accused face several previous cases. It was generally believed that lack of firm police action in the past had emboldened the criminal elements to pose threats and engage in anti social activities without any hitch.

Immediately after being posted as Bantwal police circle inspector, B K Manjaiah has succeeded in making three arrests in the case. The police are searching for some more relating to the case. It is learnt that these accused have been facing some past criminal cases here.
