Mangalore, Jun 27: Following the transfer of Fr Denis D'Sa from Sandesha as administrator of Fr Muller Medical College in May, a formal farewell was accorded to him by the Sandesha Foundation, Sandesha Lalitkala Mahavidyalaya and Karnataka Kala Kendra on Monday evening.

The function was presided over byBishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza, in the presence of dignitaries like Tulu author and folklore scholar Dr Amrut Someshwar.

After the invocation dance by the SLMV students, new director Fr F X Lewis welcomed the gathering.

Sandesha trustee Galdin D'Souza and Prof Someshwar shared their memories, while staffers Shivaprasad and Alwyn D'Cunha went down memory lane with their association with Fr D'Sa and his contribution to the progress of Sandesha institutions.

SLMV students Roshan D'Cunha and Shweta Madappadi expressed their gratitude, followed by presentation of citation to Fr D'Sa by Prof Frances Colaco.

After a farewell song by SLMV and KKK students, Bishop Aloysius honoured Fr D'Sa. Thereafter Fr D'Sa honoured students who passed with distinction and also responded to the honour given to him.

The Bishop rendered a meaningful message. Principal Araty Shetty thanked everyone for the success of the  programme. Jennifer Vijay compered the function.

Sitar recital by KKK students, a ghazal by SLMV students and presentation of a documentary formed the cultural programme.

The farewell function concluded with an interaction over high tea.
