The raid operation that started at around 11 pm on Wednesday May 7 went on till 7 am on Thursday May 8.

Three officials - joint director of APMC enforcement department B Satish Kumar, and lower rank officials Jagadishaiah and Venkateshaiah were arrested and are expected to be produced in court in the afternoon.

While Satish Kumar was arrested from a club in Kadri here, Jadadishaiah and Venkateshaiah, both from Bangalore, were arrested from a hotel in Puttur.

Lokayukta DSP Umesh Shet said that the officials seized Rs 1.52 lac of illegal money from the three accused.

It is said that the three of them, instead of penalising agricultural merchants who evaded tax, used to collect bribes in return for shielding them. The Lokayukta officials who learnt of this, conducted the raids.

From the number of raids conducted so far, it seems to me LA raids only those officials who do not bribe them. That is why so few raids.
Like @Prakash, Mangalore pointed out - LA can take the clue and do the necessary, if LA is really against corruption!!

    Dear Lokayuktha.
Try to open your ears and eyes. This incident is just to fool the citizens. Go and stand inside sub-registrars office, mangalore for a day or two. The officials are eating the money in lacks/day. They are taking the money openly from brokers and putting into their drawers. Some times they threat the junior people if they pay less bribe. We can't even imagine the amount of black money they accumulating every month/year.

we can only request Daiji to find out and publish here what happened to the already arrested corrupt officials.
That news will help us believe in LA if actions are taken or not to believe them if action against the corrupt officials is not taken. Like I said earlier if this news published just for us to know they are around, they better not publish this kind of news at all.

Lokayukta in the past has caught a number of officials for corruption and taking bribe and also assets disproportionate to their earnings. What happened to all of them ? Any progress so far on a single case ? The corruption will continue as long as the law is lenient to the corrupt. Sub logone toh Kanoon ka DAJIYA udaya, shame!!

@Satish Kudla, as per experience camera may not bring light in many times because there are some chamchas who give signs in Offices that everything is arranged and then only files are opened. Their "payment"will be distributed out of the Office premises. so functions in some Offices. The Client gives to chamcha and rest is not worth saying.

Taking bribe from Tax Defaulters also a crime. I am sure Tax Defaulters may owe more 1.52 Lakhs bribe money they have given!!!! I think our “Lokayukta Officials” are allowed to raid only petty thieves else they could have collected Crores of Rupees from CWG, 2G, Coalgate, and Helicopter Scamsters

Until the time the corrupt officers are not dismissed from their services with immediate effect nothing concrete can happen with all these raids. Three things necessary.

    1. Dismiss the corrupt with immediate effect.
    2. Confiscate the illegitimate wealth.
    3. Ensure the confiscated wealth is used for the society without any leakage, with complete transparency.

Currently, these raids are like status symbol to ensure higher yields in the future.

The Lokayuktha should also appoint informants (spy) and pay them a certain percentage of confiscated illegal money and assets. Also, dig deeper into the illegal assets of close relatives. Throw a few corrupt officials on the street confiscating all their possession and then only the strong message can be sent about the corruption
