Mangalore: Gold concealed in flask seized at airport

Mangalore, May 10: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Saturday May 10 seized gold worth Rs 4.14 lac from a passenger.

The gold was seized from a passenger identified as Muneer Pallipuzha, a resident of Pallikere, Kasargod.


The officials seized one silver coated gold sheet weighing 116.5 grams concealed inside a flask and three gold coins weighing 24 grams totally valued at Rs 4,14,370.

Muneer arrived at the airport on Saturday around 9.30 am by Air India Express flight IX 824 from Sharjah.

Operations were conducted under the guidance of Krishna Kumar Prasad, assistant commissioner of customes, Mangalore International Airport. 

Further investigation is under progress under the guidance of customs commissioner D Purushottam.

    Mangalore airport is equipped with the latest technology. Even if you bring food items in your hand bag.they can identify it as food from their x-ray machine.only thing they want to know is what kind of food ?.

    Yet another one, and this time its Kasargod again. this seems to be clear victims of smugglers who make these people carry gold illegally for some ransom. The main root should be found first to stop these illegal acts.
