Puttur, Jun 28: Two persons were injured critically when a jeep collided with a scooter near Gandhi Park at Uppinangady near here on Tuesday June 27 morning.

The injured have been identified as Robert D'Souza, a resident of Nekkilady and Kushalappa.  Robert is an official with the revenue department.

Kushalappa and Robert were coming on a scooter on Tuesday morning from Uppinangady.  While Kushalappa was riding the scooter, Robert was riding pillion. As they reached near Gandhi Park, a recklessly driven jeep, speeding from opposite direction collided with the scooter.

As a result both Kushalappa and Robert fell on the road and sustained serious injuries.  They were immediately admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.

The jeep is said to be owned by former ZP president Somanath.  The Uppinangady police have registered a case against the jeep driver in this regard.
