Kuwait cop jailed for having long beard without permission


Kuwait, May 12 (Agency) : Kuwaiti authorities jailed a police officer for growing his beard without permission in violation of interior ministry laws banning cops from having long beards.

Interior ministry undersecretary Lt General Suleiman Al Fahd ordered the imprisonment of the unnamed Major after noticing his long beard.

“He also warned another officer with the rank of a Lt Colonel for growing his beard and ordered him to have it cut,” the Arabic language daily Al Watan said.

It said the order was in line with recently introduced laws prohibiting policemen from growing their beards longer than 1.5 cm without prior permission.
