Mangalore, May 12: In a tragic incident reported from Manjanady, Ullal, two-and-half-year-old Karthik, son of Manjanday Kallatta's Ravi Achar died after slipping into a water tank while playing near the house.
It is said that he climbed on to the 3-ft tall tank and fell in accidentally. Karthik died on spot as he could not breath once he fell into the tank.
The tank was installed near the house to store water distributed by panchayat.
The Acharya family came to Ullal from Udupi about 18 months back and took Srinivas Alva's house on rent.
The boy was playing near the house for sometime. When the parents came to take him back into the house, he could not be found anywhere. By the time they checked the tank, the boy had already died of suffocation.
Konaje police has registered a case.
