Kasargod: Former MLA K Purushotham passes away

Kasargod, May 12: Former MLA K Purushotham (84) passed away at Pariyaram Medical College hospital on Friday May 9. As a CPM leader,
he was elected twice as the MLA of Uduma.

He had served as the president of Kanhangad municipal council. He was also a member of CPM district committee and vice president of the farmer's association.

He was elected as an MLA from Uduma, Vidhana Sabha constituency in 1980 and 1985. After M Kunhiraman Nambiar resgined for his position, he was elected as an MLA in the sub election.

He was president of the Kotacheri Cooperative Bank, Kotacheri service Cooperative Bank for 27 years, farmer's association, Hosadurga bar association and twice was the member of Kanangad municipal council.

He was in prison for three months during the declaration of emergency.

A protest was observed in Kanangad in view of the passing away of Purushotham.

His mortal remains were kept at Kunnammal IMA hall after keeping it in the town hall for public. His last rites were performed at Melangodu public crematorium.
