Mangalore, May 14: “The Congress-led state government with Siddaramiah as Chief Minister has completed 365 days and we have been successful in completing a year in service of the people in the state through social justice and development,” said Ivan D'Souza, state secretary, KPCC, addressing media persons at the district Congress office on Tuesday May 13.

He said that there were a lot of drawbacks in the earlier government and the people of the state sighed with relief after the new government came into existence. He also said that the state was totally unstable without appropriate developmental projects, prevalence of corruption and lack of communal harmony. “The 365 days of the Congress rule has liberated people from all these evils,” said D'Souza.

He recalled the various projects carried out under the Congress rule such as  Anna Bhagya, Kshira Bhagya and Saala Manna and claimed that these had given the best possible help to the needy and the backward classes as soon as the government came into existence.

“A total of 90 promises out of the 168 made by the government to the people have been met, out of which 60 were in the first budget and the remaining 30 have been proposed in the second budget. CM Siddaramaiah and the the cabinet has worked hard to keep the oath taken during the formation of the government,” informed D'Souza.

D'Souza said that farmers whose areca crops have failed due to diseases have received compensation for the first time in the state. “Subsidy has also been given to farmers who have lost their crops due to various natural calamities, thus giving justice to the entire farmers community. The government has been successful in maintaining law and order in the state and more changes are to be done for a better society,” he added.

“This time, an increase of six percent in the election rate has been recorded in the state and the main reason for this is the better governance provided. Congress will get more seats in the state in the upcoming MP elections and will come to power at the centre. The promises given to the people with regard to the MCC jurisdictions will be implemented and set right once the election code of conduct is withdrawn,” he said.
