Mangalore, Jun 30: The state weather department has forecast heavy rains in the coastal belt and Western Ghat areas of the state in the next 24 hours.

Three coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada have already been receiving incessant rains in the last four days.  Along with this the weather department has now predicted almost 7.25 cm of rains in the coastal belt in the next 24 hours.  Fisheries have been ordered not to venture into the sea at any circumstances during this period.

In Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, sea erosion is on its worst and areas such as Ullal, Baraka, Kotekar, Padukere, Padutonse and others have been witnessing the wrath of the raging waves. Several houses have been damaged and coconut trees have been washed out along these shores.
