Mangalore: Man booked for illegal sale of steroids

Mangalore, May 15: A team of officials from the department of drugs control raided a spot near Attavar in the city on Wednesday May 14, and  confiscated stock of illegally stored steroid tablets and injections worth about two lac rupees. The officials had acted after being tipped off about illegal trade of steroisd going on at the said spot.

The raid was conducted by drug inspector, Ashalata, under the leadership of assistant drugs controller, K V Nagaraj. It is learnt that a person named Santosh Shetty from Attavar had been involved with sale of steroid injections and tablets without any licence since about a year. He used to sell steroids to people attending gym, who wanted to build muscles fast, it is said, for a few thousand rupees. 

The officials gathered information that Shetty was getting  stock of tablets and injections from Bangalore and Mumbai. 

Case under section 200 of Criminal Procedure Code, which attracts imprisonment of three to five years with a fine of one lac rupees, was registered against Santosh Shetty, it is learnt.
