Puttur: Miscreants burn down parked auto rickshaw

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, May 17:
An auto rickshaw that was parked in a shed located by the side of a house at Urlandy here near the bypass road, was torched by unknown miscreants on the night of Thursday May 15. The vehicle including all its records were reduced into a frame of charred steel.

The auto rickshaw belonged to Eshwara Poojary from Urlandy. At around 11 pm on Thursday, he had kept his auto rickshaw inside the shed that is close to his house. At around 3 am on Friday, the family members saw that the vehicle was covered with flames and thick smoke was billowing out. They immediately called the police. The vehicle, after the fire was extinguished, was kept at the town police station.

Neither the owner of the rickshaw nor his family members could guess as to who would have caused this loss. In the fire, a car that was parked near the auto rickshaw also suffered some damage. A complaint has been filed in the town police station here.

This incident comes in the wake of a murderous assault launched on a couple and their child by a gang on Wednesday night and the torching of dry fish stalls at Kille Midan within hours thereafter. Some are of the opinion that this incident has some connection with the earlier two, although no concrete evidence is available to arrive at a definite conclusion.
