School bus rams into parked car in Dubai - one killed; 15 students hurt


Dubai, May 19 (Emirates 247) : One person died and 17 others injured in two separate accidents on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai during the past 24 hours.

Colonel Saif Mohair Al Mazroui of Dubai Traffic Police said the first accident took place on Sunday morning 8am on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road going from Sharjah to Dubai before the Khawaneej exit. 

The Asian driver had stopped his Honda Civic car on the shoulder of the road to change a tyre.

A school bus collided with the car and ran over him, resulting in his death.


A woman in the car was seriously injured and 15 students in the bus sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Col Mazroui said the second accident took place on the former Emirates Road at 6.30am in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

After the Dubai-Al Ain Bridge, a light vehicle entered the road without checking whether it was clear of vehicles and collided with a truck, causing serious injuries to the driver of the light vehicle.
