One killed, six hurt in TN power plant mishap


Chennai, May 20 (IANS): One person was killed Tuesday and six were injured when a steam pipeline burst in Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) power plant in Tamil Nadu, police said.

"The accident happened between 10 a.m. and 10.15 a.m. The steam pipeline in unit 7 burst killing chief manager Selvaraj and injuring six others," a police official in Neyveli told IANS over phone.

Neyveli is around 210 km from here.

He said three of the injured people were shifted to a hospital in Puducherry and two to a hospital in Chennai. One injured person was admitted to a local hospital.

NLC officials were not available for comments.
