Karkala: Houses, crops damaged due to rain

Karkala, May 21: A person was injured and several houses were damaged due to the impact of the heavy rains followed by thunder and lightning from the past two days in the town.

The electrical appliances and houses owned by Nooralbettu Leela Shekar Mera, Lakshmi Subbayya Poojary, Eedu Shanthi, Nitte Mulladka Shekar Mukhari, Andaru Anantharaya Acharya and Kukkundooru Girija Madivalthi have been party damaged due to incident.

The injured has been identified as Kukkundoor Ravi. 40 areca trees owned by Nooralbettu Nemiraj were also damaged.

Electric poles have collapsed in Mudaaru as a huge tree fell on them, confirmed the sources from the Tahashildar's office.
