A house in Yermal belonging to Gopal Tingalaya has been destroyed in the severe sea erosion that has affected the place.


Hoping that the conditions will soon be conducive to fishing, the fishermen repair and prepare their fishing nets in the verandah of Government High School, Kaup-Polipu.


Udupi deputy commissioner Ponnuraj, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon and Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, along with zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat and gram panchayat members visited the sea-erosion-affected areas in Kaup on Sunday. The DC announced that Rs 50 lac were being released from the disaster relief fund and work would start on Tuesday to place protective stone barrier to break the power of the waves.
