Udupi, May 21: A 27-year-old woman hailing from Mallar here died in a hospital in Madikeri on Monday May 19. She was 8 months pregnant, and her death was sudden, it is said.

The deceased, Zohra (27) was married to Mohammed Nisar (26) from Belapu. It is said that it was a love marriage.

They had married about six years ago, and have a son. After their marriage, the couple stayed in Belapu for sometime and then settled down in Madikeri.

On Monday, Zohra was admitted to a hospital in Napoklu in Madikeri. Her husband said she suffered from some nerve problem. Her condition worsened all of a sudden and she passed away.

Soon after her death, Zohra's father was informed and he along with other family members rushed to Napoklu.

Her father alleged that Zohra was tortured by her husband and a complaint was filed against him in Napoklu police station by Zohra's father.

Zohra's family demanded that the post-mortem be conducted in Udupi, and accordingly, the body was brought to Ajjarkad hospital on Wednesday May 21. However, the post-mortem got delayed by several hours reportedly due to the absence of the doctor, which further distressed and angered the bereaved family.

The tahsildar came to the hospital at around 11 am, and left after a brief investigation. However, evening till evening, the post-mortem did not start. The family members said that the body had been taken for post-mortem two or three times but returned to the morgue without post-mortem. The staff reportedly said that as the doctor had gone to Gangolli, there was no one to perform the post-mortem.

By evening, a lady doctor came to the hospital and the post-mortem got under way, sources said.

The family members speaking to media alleged that they were treated badly as they were poor and had no money to pay.

So sad that the Lady passed away so sudden. But I am sure it is not any harassing, but most probably the so called nerve pain must be from actual labour pains caused and she must have not felt labour pains and due to Babys wrong Position and strong labour pains Uterus(womb)must have ruptured. when Uterus ruptures there wont be time left for any Treatment ,unless you are in clinic. Please dont give any causes and dont doubt her husband, with that she wont come back. A loss for whole Family. Heartfelt sympathy to the Family ,son lost his mother at small Age .Two lives are gone all of sudden. may their Soul rest in peace.

Very sad news, the culprit should punish immediately. But Mr. Gafoor (Mari Pudari) wanted to shine among them.

@Vasanth Raj, Abudhabi, kindly don't blame anybody without really knowing the cause of her death. I am sure the nerve pain she mentioned was a sign of starting labor pains. I know it as a woman and as experienced in a Long time in the medical field. Her husband is also sure sad due to her sudden death and we too should not burden him this blame. Lets us hear the real cause first.
