Hailstorm, heavy rain lash Bangalore - Traffic jams and chaos on roads

Bangalore, May 22 (DHNS) : Heavy downpour accompanied by hailstorm threw life out of gear in many parts of the City, mainly South Bangalore, on Wednesday evening.

Several trees and electric poles were uprooted, leading to disruption in power supply and traffic jams and chaos on roads.

According to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike officials, over 30 trees were uprooted in Hanumantha Nagar, Chamarajpet, Girinagar, Basappa Circle, Banashankari, Jagajivanram Nagar, Basaveshwaranagar, Thyagarajanagar, Nagarbhavi and Vijayanagar.

In Hanumantha Nagar, more than five trees were uprooted. At Minerva Circle, a car was damaged and its occupants suffered minor injuries as a huge tree fell on the vehicle. At Vidyapeetha Circle, a tree fell on a vehicle but no casualty was reported.

An electric pole collapsed at Narayanswamy Circle at Hanumantha Nagar, resulting in traffic jam. Palike workers cleared the fallen trees from the roads. But in Bangalore South division, there were complaints from residents that Palike was slow in clearing the trees.

Traffic police had a tough time in regulating traffic till the roads were cleared. Vijayalakshmi, a resident of Vidyapeetha area, said there was no power in the locality for over two hours from 6:30 pm.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) office said they received information about the hailstorms and thundershowers from the public.

According to IMD Director (Bangalore) B Puttanna, hailstorms and thundershowers are common during the pre-monsoon season, but are rare in the month of May. However, heavy pre-monsoon showers are normally reported in May.

He pointed out that there is a depression in east central Bay of Bengal. It is now moving in northerly direction and under this influence, most parts of Karnataka are experiencing heavy rainfall which will continue for the next two days.

How one can expect overnight miracle/wonder from Modi/party?impossible to solve the problems singlehandedly.Unity is the strength,so we have to join our hands with whichever the government is either at the centre or state.Development, progress and prosperity of the nation is rested on the shoulder of every citizen when able leader is steering the country in the right direction.Only we the citizens of the nation/country do our duties properly rather than mud throwing at each others, sign of progress can be seen/witnessed.Otherwise same old stories, whichever the government comes to the power. These are all natural calamities,no government can do/act anything against the will of Nature's fury.Under the present scenario/circumstance each and every citizen should come forward to extend their helping hand with government, how best we can solve this problem, what solution can we suggest rather than simply passing comment. Before asking anyone or government, ask your self first what you have done to others or how you have contributed?Sorry. Each one, teach one.It is always easier said than done.

how one CM could change the status of a State called Gujarat. Complete credit goes to Modi and that's how we are expecting the same kind of revolution in our country. It may not be so quick, may not be so evident ... but at least he can bring some changes which our earlier leaders couldn't bring for almost 60 years by now... let's hope at least now. change has come. I could see , he is the first PM who bent and prayed the parilament hall entrance while stepping first time in to the cabinet, first PM who gave a clear message to all ministers who were lobbying at delhi for their positions... he gave a clear communications not to lobby. he is the first PM who spoke so strong about border issues. Many of the neighbouring countries got the pulse as they will be in trouble if they continue doing what they were doing for years. It got an end for our prime people who were saying "shanthi shanthi" even when our parliament was attacked by Pak terrorists. So, people of India have seen a change already. It's time to give Modi some time and watch how he does it.

This victory of Mr. Modi even surprised him and the BJP. Someway, the electorate felt like Mr. Modi is a deity appeared for India to solve all the economic problems-corruption-red tape-slow economic growth-massive unemployment etc.

When Mr. Obama took office in his first term, when I asked many people, those peopled voted for Mr. Obama, they all answered that President Obama will fix the economy within six months. The U.S. electorate felt that kind of a mysterious feeling and blind confidence that he can solve all the economic problems of the U.S.

Mr. Obama and Mr. Modi are smart and intelligent people, have concern for the suffering people of the society. However, how one person, whether he is the President or Prime Minister can solve the problems of a nation through his exclusive strong personality and eloquence is a very mysterious question.

How many factors are working in an
economy? The average people never look at that, but look at the person as the omniscient panacea.

Only Modi (through his elected representatives yeddiurappa or anathkumar)can now save us from the chaos of the Bangalore traffic!!!
Modi is god and is more powerful than Rajanikanth! And if modi could have saved all those gujjus from the floods of uttarakhand, his assistants like yeddi will also now save us from the drowning of Karnataka...
