Mangalore, May 22: The Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy organized ‘Gaurava Prashasthi Vijethara Sahitya Samagama’ (Honorary Award Winners’ Literary Meet) on Wednesday May 21.
On behalf of the Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy, its president B A Mohammed Haneef honoured Janaki M Brahmavar, the president, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Ronaldo S Castelino, the president, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Subbaiah Rai, the president, Kerala Tulu Sahitya Academy.
Ibrahim Tanirbhavi, U A Kasim Ullal, K P Abdul Khader Kuthethooru, Mohammed Maripalla, Rahim B C Road, Ahmed Bava Bajal, Hamza Malar, K Mohammed Chikmagalur, Mohammed Badooru, Basheer Baikampady, Ismail Moodushedde, Charmadi Hasanabba, Zakaria Venooru and Ismail Nekiladi were honoured with mementos.
After receiving the honor, Subbaiah Rai said, “ There are more than 354 languages in India. A culture can sustain only if the language sustains. Even in Kasargod, people of the Beary community used to speak Beary language; but now the usage of the language is diminishing. Instead of Beary, Malayalam is used as the language of communication. Beary is an important language of Tulunadu.”
Janaki M Brahmavar said, “ People of the Beary community are good-hearted. I have many friends from the community. Literature in any language should be for social harmony and peace and should not create dissatisfaction among the individuals.”
K Mohammed Chickamagalur, the former president of ZP spoke on the occasion.
