Udupi, Jul 5: Prof H S Ballal has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) deemed university, while Rajashekaran P Warrier will take over as the vice-chancellor, stated a press release.

Ballal who completed his term as VC was elevated as pro-chancellor of the deemed university.

Ballal served as Professor and Head of the Radio-Diagnosis Department and Dean of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He took over as MAHE Vice-Chancellor in September 2003. Ballal’s association with the Manipal Group of Institutions has been for the last 35 years, as medical teacher, educationist and administrator.

Dr Warrier is a pediatrician and has undergone training at Henry Ford Hospital and Children’s Hospital at Michigan, USA. Certified by the American Board, he is currently professor and vice-chairman of pediatrics, director of the Centre for Cancer and Blood disorders at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Centre.
